Open your own Hive FAQ’s

What does it cost to open a Hive?It costs you no money to open a Hive, rather we pay you to open and run your own Hive(s). As a Hive leader you’ll receive 20% of the membership fees at your Hive, less direct costs.

So the more members you have, the more you’ll earn. For instance, if you have 30 members of your Hive with 15 members @ $69 each and 15 members @ $99 each, your 20% share would be $504 per month.

Can I open more than one Hive?

Yes, you can open multiple Hives as long it is first approved by the Hive Head Office. It’s entirely possible to have different Hives meeting on different days of the week and different weeks of the month – in the same local area or in different suburbs.

Since it only takes 2 to 3 hours to run a monthly Hive meeting, that leaves the rest of the day available for your normal day job.

open a hiveHow many people can come to a Hive?Normally 30 to 50 people attend each Hive meeting, but there are no limits to the numbers of people who can attend, other than the size of the venue that you choose. If your Hive grows too big you can always open another Hive on another day.

Plus you can also expect to have new visitors, guests and people looking at joining the Hive.

What does it cost to run a Hive? There are some start-up costs for materials, banners, workbooks, etc which we supply to you. Howerver the costs are low and we’ll supply these to you with no up–front fee.  Instead, we’ll just deduct and these relatively minor costs out of your membership income over the first three months.

That way, there is no outlay involved from you up front!  There are at times other costs such as workshop compendiums that you will need for new members, that we send to you and are reimbursed out of your membership fees. Naturally you can also conduct your own marketing campaigns, which you will pay for.

When do the Hives meet?

The Hive is a monthly meeting of 2 to 3 hours per week usually for breakfast, between 7/7.30am to 8.30/9am. Of course, it could be at lunch or dinner depending on what time is best for your local area – but our experience suggest that busy people who own and run their own nusinesses tend to prefer a breakfast.

Each local Hive meets once a month at the same place and the same time as it makes it easy for members to plan to be there. Some Hives may have to make a different date to allow for Christmas in December or summer holidays. We suggest that you do not stop meeting in those months, but change the date to a more appropriate time. It is best that you meet 12 months of every year.

What does the Hive offer to businesses?open a hive

Three things:

  1. Business coaching – to spark new ideas and develop new insights for business owners.
  2. Networking opportunities – to provide new business leads straight away.
  3. Team Building, Fellowship and Support – a sense of community with your own staff (if appropriate) and with other local business owners.

Many business owners are so busy – they feel isolated and unsupported.  That’s quite typical.  The Hive is about helping each business owner to grow their business, increase profits, gain some much needed time, and get a sense of balance back into life.

So how does this “business coaching” work?

No matter what the size of your business, we can all benefit from professional business coaching. Usually business coaching is very expensive, costing thousands of dollars each month. That’ is why at the Hive we’ve assembled some of the best business coaches from across the country and around the world and we’ve engaged them to record their best sessions for us on video. They also provide us with an Implementation Workbook for each session so that the business owners can take notes, participate in a workshop during the breakfast, apply what they’ve learned to their business and share their insights amongst one another.

And what about the “team building”?Well, each member business can bring one or more of their staff/customers along to each breakfast to participate in the learning and take back the ideas to implement in your business.

We call this Team Building and we’ve seen it transform companies. The staff start working with the business owner, as they learn new things.  It is truly transformational!.

What is the format of each Hive meeting? There are 5 things that you get each month from a Hive meeting:

  1. Networking – we begin with social networking and sharing a meal together
  2. Put an offer on the table – each month members can bring an offer from their company for one of their products or services and place it on “the offer table”. This offer can be taken up by any of the Hive members or they can be invited to pass the offer onto others. Members can also deliver a 1 minute talk about their offer or just leave it on the table.
  3. Coaching – members receive professional business coaching from one of the best business coaches in the country on a new topic each month. We call it “wisdom that works” – rubber–hits–the–road, practical insights to help grow members’ businesses.
  4. Workshop – after the coaching members use their notes and workshop questions in order to apply what they’ve learned to their own unique situation. They’re also encouraged to discuss these ideas with others on their table.
  5. Team building – those members who choose to bring their staff can then go back to their workplace and have a meeting about how their company can benefit from ideas and insights from that month’s coaching session. This is incredibly powerful as it sparks ideas and enthusiasm amongst the team – meaning that most times, they’;ll take ownership and implement things.  Our experience is that staff feel honoured to be recognised and involved in this way!.

What equipment do I need to open a Hive?We supply a monthly video for you to use plus workshop documents for you to download from the website.

You’ll need a video projector and/or one or more TV screens (depending on the size of each Hive and the nature of the venue).

If you don’t have your own, they could be available at the venue that you select, or you can perhaps borrow them from another Hive member or hire them.

You’ll also need to print or copy the Coaching Workbooks for each member, each month. It is easy and inexpensive to do this yourself or outsource this to a copy shop.

Depending on the size of your meetings and venue, you will also need an appropriate microphone and sound system. You should book a venue which already has this setup.
